PLACES TO VISIT
The
picturesque town of Wadebridge is ideally situated to visit the many
beautiful places of interest in Cornwall. Brookdale is
conveniently situated just a few minutes stroll from the town
centre. So it’s easy to wander through the streets of
Wadebridge and explore our wonderful market town that offers a range
of pubs, restaurants, unique shops, a cinema, park with recreational
facilities and a sports centre, plus lots more.
Wadebridge hosts the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Show the first
weekend of June for 3 days. We have a yearly carnival at the
end of July. During the August Bank Holiday Wadebridge is host
to a 3 day Folk festival.
Why
not Cycle, Walk or Canoe alongside the coastal part of the Camel
Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow, which follows the River Camel
towards the sea. Then follow the trail as it winds its way
through the countryside from Wadebridge to Pooley’s and Wenford
Bridge and onto the foothills of Bodmin Moor. The trail offers
17 miles of riverside and countryside cycling and walking, passing
beautiful scenery and abundance of wildlife. You can hire a
variety of cycles from the 3 cycle hire shops in Wadebridge Town. If
you are feeling more adventurous, why not hire a kayak for the day
to view the old railway line from the water, as well as experience
all that the River Camel Estuary has to offer.

Beautiful Beaches can be found at Rock (where you can catch the
ferry over to Padstow, or do some sailing or water skiing), Polzeath
(renowned for its surfing) and Daymer Bay (renowned for windsurfing
and sand kiting. There is also a short walk from Daymer that
will take you to St Enodoc church where Poet Laureate Sir John
Betjeman is buried). On the other coast are the beaches of
Trevone and Harlyn. All these beaches are within a short drive
of Wadebridge.

The
Camel Estuary provides the visitor with many water sport activities,
boat trips, fishing trips, beautiful beaches, coastal walks and
cycling trails. As well as an abundance of wildlife and
picturesque scenery.

Coastal and Inland Walks are many and varied around the
Wadebridge/Padstow/Rock areas and we hold an array of walking guides
and Ordinance Survey maps to help you explore these beautiful areas.
Golf courses of St Enodoc, Trevose, Bowood Park, Lanhydrock,
Lostwithiel (near Bodmin) and Roserrow are all within a short drive.
These Golf Clubs offer 9 and/or 18 holes and all with beautiful
views from seascapes to woodlands, to beautiful gardens.
Historic Houses and Gardens in Cornwall are abundance. Three
of the main grand houses closes by are Pencarrow and Lanhydrock in
Bodmin and the Elizabethan Manor House of Prideaux Place in Padstow.
Bodmin
stands on the moors western edge and used to hold the unique
position as being the capital of Cornwall. This was passed
over to Truro many years ago. Whilst exploring Bodmin you could
visit the Haunted Jail, 2 museums where you can experience the towns
turbulent past and The Courtroom Experience, a Victorian murder
trial at the Shire Hall. History is re-lived on the annual
Riding and Heritage Day – a pageant of mock battles and medieval
crafts. Around Bodmin you can ride an old steam train on the
Bodmin and Wenford Railway. Or why not explore the nature
trails in Cardinham Woods.

Visit the picturesque fishing village of Padstow where you can
experience Rick Steins Seafood Restaurant / Bistro / Fish & chip
shop, along with many other eateries. It has unique shops and
this is your port of call for a fishing trip or just a game of Krazy
golf overlooking the quaint harbour. Why not join in with the
Padstow ObbyOss celebrations held on the 1st May each year.
Take a visit to the picturesque fishing village of Port Issac for a
bite to eat, a gentle stroll, a coastal walk, or just to see where
they film Doc Martin.
The
Eden Project is only a 20 minute drive away, (for further
information visit their website at
www.edenproject.com).
The Lost Gardens of Heligan is only 25 minutes away, (for further
information visit their website at
www.heligan.co.uk.)
Within driving distance is Tintagel with its castle and the legend
of King Arthur. Boscastle. St Ives and the Tate Gallery.

nightlife is also within easy reach.
